Descriptions of Volunteer Board Committees
All committees will be led by a chairperson who will report to the board of directors at board meetings. The size of each committee will vary depending on the scope of its responsibilities.
Volunteer recruitment: Responsible for recruiting volunteer coaches, office support help, and volunteers for fundraisers and the 5K race. In addition, committee members help with coach training prior to the season and conduct background checks of all volunteers.
Budget: The council needs a person with a financial background to assist the treasurer in developing and reviewing the council financials and working with other committees to develop budgets for specific events.
Marketing: Responsible for outreach with the schools and community. Tasks include maintaining the website, creating promotional materials for the council, writing press releases, and developing a marketing budget for specific events.
Fundraising: Responsible for developing and implementing existing and potential fundraisers to raise awareness of and funds for the council. Subcommittees for this board committee include operating the Solemates program, grant writing, and coordinating with small local fundraising events.

5K committee: Responsible for planning and running the Girls on the Run 5K. Committee work includes developing subcommittees to run the race and getting race sponsorships.
